There are lots of things in life we’d all love: that villa in Spain, a personal trainer, a Personal Assistant, but there’s a much shorter list of things in life we’re prepared to pay for.

And in the current market, where the demands on senior executives are greater than ever, and where training budgets are tight, why is it that companies continue to pay for executive coaching?

Organisations continue to invest in executive coaching because:

  • Coaching improves the performance of their top players: CEOs and CFOs, and that increased productivity impacts positively on the bottom line
  • Executive coaching delivers results

Similarly, some senior executives pay for their own coaching, as they see it gives them a multiple return on their investment.

And What Is Executive Coaching?

Executive coaching is a series of one-to-one development sessions which aims to improve the performance of executives. A coaching session typically lasts 60-90 minutes, and the frequency of the sessions varies. Some individuals find that 3 to 4 sessions is enough, and others commit to doing 3 sessions a month for 6 or 12 months. A coaching session can take place in person, or by phone.

Is Executive Coaching the Same as Life Coaching?

No. Life Coaching focuses on the individual, and executive coaching focus on the individual within an organisation. Executive coaching focuses on increasing an individual’s performance within a specific set of organisational needs and metrics.
